We could all use a good laughter therapy with our mates after a long week. While dinner seems like an obvious choice for a friends meetup but truth be told, it’s hard to joke around and recall those embarrassing moments with everyone’s mouth full of delicious foods. That’s probably one of the reasons shisha/hookah is a huge part of the Arab culture. Though shisha makes for a good excuse for friends to hang in a Dance bar in Dubai, smoking the same old flavors over and over can be boring. That’s why here at Muscovites we have expert shisha makers who are known to make the best shisha in Dubai.

In this blog, we are going to take you behind the curtains to let you know how you can mix different flavors and try out different combinations without blowing up the kitchen.

Which flavors to mix

First thing is first, mixing different flavors without knowing the outcome is like pouring random ingredients into a soup hoping it would only taste better. While there are several ways to prepare a mixed flavor shisha, it’s important to know which combinations do well together unless you want to end up getting nauseous and ruining the whole session for everyone.

You may want to rely on your food instincts for this one if it’s your first time mixing different flavors. The whole point of mixing flavors is to intensify some notes while masking the others. Just like the food ingredients, there are endless options in shisha flavors to choose from. You can start with subtle blends such as mixing mint with fruits which works almost every time. Complementing fruity flavors with the mint is a good start. Just be sure to maintain the ratio of both the flavors because you don’t want to overdo it.

How to mix?

Contrary to what one might think, mixing flavors is actually quite easy and there are more than one techniques to do it.

Side by side mix

If you fancy smoking different flavors at the same time then a side by side mix is what you need. Just stuff the flavors you want to smoke side by side in the bowl and pack the bowl with the foil. You can enjoy the flavor of your choice by adjusting the coal at the top. It’s best not to go above two flavors if you have the average sized bowl.

Layered Mix

You might have eaten layered food at restaurants or home but did you know that you can also layer different shisha flavors on top of each other to enhance the experience? Pick your most favorite flavor and stuff it at the bottom of the bowl covering the holes as you normally would. Add the other flavors of your choice on top of each other and voila! Initially you might taste the flavor that’s at the top but it won’t be long before the bottom flavor kicks in combined with the rest of the flavors packed in the bowl.

Premixed Flavors

Not a fan of layering or side by side mix? Keep it simple by premixing the flavors. Just pick the flavors you want to mix, in your preferred ratio which could vary between 70/30, 60/40 depending on which flavor you would like to dominate, you could even do 50/50 if you want to taste both the flavors equally. Mix them thoroughly in a small bag, pack the mixture in your bowl, and enjoy your session.
